Get more clients for your content writing service
If you are a freelance content writer and if you are not getting any good offers, then there are some ways to fix that:
1. Writing a good quality article is the essential step, but proofread it with professional tools like Grammarly if you are doubtful about the words or punctuations you have used.
2. If you are done with the #1 point, then you need to focus on the SEO part. This is not mandatory, but, in professional blogging, this is something we all focus all the time. You don’t have to complicate SEO; it’s very simple to understand. If you are going to write an article, you need to ask yourself, how will people read this article without you promoting it anywhere?
This is where “Keywords” come. You need to optimize the article with necessary keywords, aka the search terms people use to search online. If your article is about “Best Maggi Recipes” then you need to think of all the possible keywords people will use to search for such recipes online. Don’t spam your article with all this; just do this naturally.
3. If you are done with #1 and #2, then you need to focus on another important thing — “Images.” See, getting photographs from online is okay, people do that, but using your own photographs is the perfect way to make your article complete. Think about this, writing about a Maggie Recipe you used to cook and using a random photograph you got from online won’t add more value when others read it, right.
4. Now, your article is ready. But how will you sell it to someone for a good price? You can’t approach a random blogger or agency and pitch them about this. You need to focus on the top blogs or growing blogs under the “Food” niche and keep them on a spreadsheet along with their contact email address. Or you can use tools like FindThatLead to get the required email addresses of a blog or a brand.
5. Now, you can start sending them emails professionally. You can sign up on @gmail.com to create a good email address, something which represents your name or your own service or anything like that. Make sure you have a genuine DP (Display Picture) there. Most of the emails I get won’t have any photos; I often feel they are pretty new and avoid it.
6. When you pitch them, you need to understand, you are NOT the first person to do this. They would have got like 10s or 100s of emails like this on a regular basis. You have to make yours unique. If you start by saying, “I’m a big fan of your blog…” or “I’m a regular follower of your work…” etc., then they will look way too dramatic. Just get to the point.
7. You need to ask yourself what else you can provide apart from your article. You can tell them you’ll share it on your social media profiles like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc. You can also tell them that you’ll reply back to all the comments and help the readers with their queries.
8. If they really have a spot for hiring content writers or if they like your work, then it’s just a matter of time to become a regularly paid freelance or full-time writer on their blog.
All the very best. Let’s make use of this lockdown time much further.
